MISSION
It is Heart Ventures mission to develop and implement a bilingual tutors-to-you program with a focus on youth that might not otherwise have access to free tutors, computers, printers and training in their local neighborhood. These youth will be identified as disadvantaged to the current public education programs due to age, socio-economic and/or language barriers. The education program will be ultimately designed for each of the four areas in Santa Barbara County, designated as Eastside, Westside, La Cumbre Middle School Area and Isla Vista.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This executive summary introduces the Heart Venture’s CAN Youth Tutoring Program. This Tutoring Program established for the districts of the Santa Barbara County, ensures local youth, the opportunity to achieve academic excellence in their respective academic programs. Mobile or Motor Homes will be refurbished to include desks, computers, and Internet access via satellite. The Mobile Facility will be located on specific days in each of the designated service areas.

This current decade of youth is now required to have education and skills that will enable them to compete for jobs enabling them to earn sufficient wages to meet minimum living standards. The age group targeted by the Heart Ventures Youth Tutoring Program is for those between 12 and 18, who have missed the opportunity to acquire the necessary schooling and demonstrate the need for a Tutoring Program. These youth will be chosen based on a set of evaluation criteria. These criteria will be generally based upon socio-economic disadvantage, access to tutoring, age and/or language barriers.

The program is designed to meet California standard junior high and high school diploma requirements. It is a bilingual program. Most tutoring is offered in English and some in Spanish. Spanish grammar, comprehension and literacy will also be offered as well as basic introduction of the computer and standard and commonly used software programs. Heart Ventures is a private, not for profit, social service, non-governmental organization, providing the administration and funding for the development and maintenance of the programs, including facilities, curriculum and tutors. A school board will be developed to oversee the administration of the school program and maintain accountability for students, curriculum, facilities, general administration, personnel/tutors and funds. Formal written reports will be completed and submitted to the local Board of Education at the end of each session.
